There are other infections and diseases that people can get that are closely related to sexually transmitted diseases, but not in the same sense. A common disease that people, especially young adults have been infected with is Hepatitis B. This infection focuses on the liver, scarring it and causing it great damage. By knowing what the symptoms of Hepatitis B are, a person is better able to understand the virus, the causes of it, and how to prevent themselves from getting.
Hepatitis B is a viral infection that causes great damage and harm to the liver. Rated the second most common liver infection of the world, people have done all they can in order to protect themselves and their loved ones from it. The infection inflames the liver. The liver is responsible for processing and filtering toxins, drugs, and alcohol through your system and blood. It is also a major factor when you need energy to get through your day, as the liver is responsible for absorbing all the needed nutrients that are important to help give you energy. There are two different types of Hepatitis B: chronic hepatitis B, and acute hepatitis B. Acute hepatitis B just happens shortly after a person is exposed to the virus. Those who contract this virus, and are able to get it treated immediately will lessen their chances of developing chronic hepatitis B. However, there are cases where acute hepatitis B can turn in a more severe condition, known as fulminant hepatitis. Chronic hepatitis is when the viral infection lasts longer than six months. Unfortunately, once the symptoms of hepatitis B get to this level, the infection may never go away completely. 5% to 10% of those who come down with the HBV actually develop chronic symptoms of hepatitis B. Each year, 250,000 people die from liver failure caused by hepatitis B. Among young adults, teenagers, and adults, years 20-50, this disease infects them. 1.25 million are chronic carriers, while 5000 people actually die each year from liver failure. In order to prevent the liver from failing an HBV patient, they must be able to find a liver transplant donor. Only a piece is actually needed for the surgery, for the liver has the capabilities to regenerate itself. There are chronic carriers to this disease, those who have it, but show no signs or symptoms of hepatitis B. Chronic carriers can pass the infection on along to other people through a number of ways and not know that they have done so. The possible ways to pass hepatitis B along is through semen and saliva that gets into the blood stream or mucus membranes in a person's body. These methods include unprotected sex with multiple partners, men having sex with men, men and women having sex with HBV infected person, blood transfusion, kidney dialysis, sharing needles, and infants born to an infected mother.
The symptoms of hepatitis B include the following:
- loss of appetite
- pain over area where liver is; lower abdominal area centered around the right side
- urine becomes dark in color; color of dark pop or tea
- pale stools
- entire body is itching
- fatigue
- nausea and vomiting
These symptoms of hepatitis B are considered to be universal, it reminds many people of having the flu, which is a reason why some have gone without seeing a doctor. Typically, within the first couple of weeks of being exposed to the virus, and contracting it, a person will not experience any of the above mentioned symptoms of hepatitis B. However, given an
ywhere between 30 to 180 days, a person will experience these symptoms. These are the general signs of a person having acute hepatitis B. Should a person go for too long without getting their flu-like symptoms checked out, they can run the risk of causing the infection to turn into fulminant hepatitis, which rarely happens, but is a severe case of the virus. A person can experience extreme symptoms of hepatitis B, such as confusion, lethargy, mental disturbances, jaundice, swelling of abdominal area, collapse from fatigue, prolonged vomiting which will cause dehydration, also causing headaches, lack of urination, and feeling incapable of doing daily activities. Should a person experience liver failure, these are the symptoms that they should look for: fluid retention in the stomach area, incredible weight gain, blood in the vomit, nose bleeds, excessive confusion, and blood in stool, rectal area and mouth.
Sometimes, because can get the flu and these other flu-like symptoms mixed up, they never think to go and visit the doctor. However, doctors report that should a person experience a long duration of any of these symptoms, especially those that pertain to extended vomiting, then medical attention needs to be sought. Many people might look at the idea of experiencing confusion that is normal with having the flu, however, it's not. There are some symptoms of hepatitis B that some people allow to go on for too long because they believe that it's normal. This is understood, however, there some things that must be taken a bit more seriously than people are used to. Confusion and delirium can result in people who might lose track of what they were just doing, or where they are at the moment, or who a particular person is. The sooner that these symptoms of hepatitis are looked at, even if you believe that it's just the flu, then the sooner you can either count yourself on being wrong, or that you were right, and were able to catch the infection soon enough to prevent it from causing serious damage or harm.
